Advent Day 9

Today let us consider a New Testament promise.  While the Old Testament foreshadowed the coming promises of fulfillment in Christ the New Testament connects and directs modern men and women in the way God is currently and will be working in the days to come.  New Testament promises are important because they are to be lived now in faith.

In this passage the apostle Paul teaches and encourages Roman readers to the ultimate promise.  Salvation offered by God to all people in faith.  I want us to spend sometime today in prayer before God considering this promised salvation not based on heritage, race, social status, etc.  I want us to be honest with God regarding both doubts and hopes we might have regarding God’s promise of salvation offered to all.

If you are reading this I believe it is not by chance.  I believe God has worked time and circumstances to the moment.  I believe His promises find “yes” in Christ and because of His past, present, and future work you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in His promise of salvation in Christ Jesus personally.  You can rejoice fully, completely, and without fear of ever loosing God’s saving grace through His Son offered fully to you.

“16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith”

Romans 1:16-17
