Advent Day 6

Monday - Luke 2:10 


Often times the significant events of life occur when not expected.  Today I want us to see that life encounters are not random.  God, in His providence, is working to redeem and fulfill all His promises through Christ.  Imagine being a Shepard around Bethlehem 2,000-ish years ago?  Jewish law would have dominated the common world view.  Life was rigidly structured in the ways of religion, social status, and general societal standing.  It was a time during history in which it seemed little was truly happening spiritually.  However, as our passage reveals, God is always working and Luke’s account documents a phenomenal scene.  Simply working in the field a group of Shepherds are miraculously told some good news.  The result of this news was great joy not only for them but also the world.  This news was the fulfillment of promise.  Today our text is a common verse to the advent season.  As you read and pray today consider just how good the news of Jesus and the faithfulness of God to His promises are for you and you're household.
