Advent Day 3
Friday - Genesis 3:15
It is my opinion that Genesis 3 is the saddest section of scripture in the Bible. Adam and Eve had it all but due to direct disobedience to God lost virtually everything. As you read this devotion today what do you fear losing in the days to come? Genesis 3 left a stain on this world that is still felt immensely in our world today. Death, disease, fear, and separation from God, are just a few of the lasting effects of sin on and in the world. This is why Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians bring me such hope and joy because way back in Genesis 3 at the initial time of the fall while so much negative was occurring one glimmer of hope was promised by God. God promises that He alone will put hostility between the enemy, Satan, and humanity. In this verse God made a promise that found its yes many years later in the humble birth of Christ.
Today in prayer would you be willing to spend some time thanking God for the fulfillment of His promise against sin and the enemy through Jesus. Would you thank Him for not completely giving the World over to sin and leaving men and women in hopelessness? Would you thank Him for providing hope and joy to the world through Jesus? Would you trust in God’s promise of provision to you for your sin and the uncertainty of your days to come? God is faithful and His promises truly are yes in Jesus.
“I will put hostility between you and the women, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head and you will strike his heel.”
