Advent Day 16

Christmas is just a few days away and over the next few days I want to consider some specific promises Jesus provides for us.  As we read, pray, and consider these promises from Christ I want you to keep this in mind.  Jesus, who is God’s Son, born humbly in a manger, and lived a life free from sin offers specific promises to you!  On top of this remember these promises, made by Christ, have the authority behind them to come to fruition through God the Father and are already “yes.”

I challenge you to pray through Jesus’ promises in this passage from Matthew.

An example prayer is as follows:

“Father thank you for sending your Son as the best gift the world has ever known.  Thank you for inviting me, a sinner, to you.  Lord I am wearied and burdened.  I am tired but so very thankful for the promise you provide for me of rest.  Help me to better take up your yoke, your ways, your tasks.  I pray today for a deeper trust in you and the resultant soul rest you promise.  Forgive me where I doubt and help me to be a more clear and brighter light reflection of your work in me.  In the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray. Amen”

Would you spend some time in prayer and in doing so know that Christ’s promised gift of deep soul rest is already “yes”.

28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30
