As I write this it is early on Valentines morning.  The sun has note rose yet.  The possibilities of the day are endless!  So I am curious, how does the idea of valentines day hit you?  Does the idea of red heart shaped boxes full of chocolates or red roses bring thoughts of joy to your mind and heart?  Or perhaps valentines day hurts because of this particular season of life for you?  I am reminded of King Solomon in his life memoir when He writes that “nothing is new under the sun” and that ultimately all the self pursuits of joy in this life are meaningless.  I am guessing if the wisest king ever to rule, King Solomon, were alive today not many would seek his council for encouragement.  However Solomon has a point.  The chocolate will eventually be gone, this season of life will eventually fade and soon valentines day will be over.  Sad.

Yesterday during or time in God’s Word we finished answering the question of what is love?  The book of Hosea reveals so much to the answer of what love is.  Portrayed is not what valentines day is commonly known as.  Portrayed is great sacrifice, great self denial, deep commitment to another who is not faithful or even receptive.  Portrayed is the hope of the gospel, a hope that never fails or fades and for that I could not be more grateful.  What we consider yesterday was our creator, our Holy and perfect heavenly Father who is absolutely crazy about you and I.  What we saw was how God in His grace is in constant pursuit of us as long as we have breath to breath.  I encourage you to rewatch or perhaps watch for the first time our service from yesterday.  Think of it as a valentine directly from our Lord to you.

As you go about your week I would also encourage you to continue to remember these needs in prayer.
